Paul,
I've loaded a bike (AC 18 Library) to the Archicad scene.
Experienced following error messages when tried to render scene:
and from CUDA log:

Octane Render window closes and Setup window stays normal.
Any idea what's wrong?

Octane bike render error

Hi Marek
I don't think the material name that is too long is "Paint 04" - I think it is the "builtInMatBlackType (...)" material name.
In the next few releases of the plugin you will be able to have longer material names, which will resolve this type of issue.
If you save the scene to PLA and then reload - it should purge the bike from the scene - which resolve the error. However, if this does not resolve it - pls send me the PLA. I believe this issue with the Bike not being removed from the scene was introduced in AC18 - however I haven't been able to identify what part of the plugin is referencing the deleted item.

Hi Paul,
Actually I've made a morph out of this bike wanting it to be tilted a bit to the side.
When that render error showed up I've undone that morph creation but that error remained.
So bike out of AC library is OK but changing it to the morph causes OctaneRender to show an error.
Sorry for making you work on Sunday, didn't realize of so big time difference.

Hi Marek. Can you pls send me the pla version of the scene causing the error, and I will take a closer look.

Hi Paul,
Here you go:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4mk1avp4agz3 ... fgA0a?dl=0
Undone, removed all geometry, error remains while you open OctaneRender.

Hi Marek
Firstly - thank you for providing all the info for track down this issue.
What is happening is that when you delete the morphed bicycle, the special surface/materials created (which are over 50 chars) are NOT deleted by ArchiCAD - so the error continues to display.
There is probably a complex solution to this - however, I think expanding the material character limit from 50 chars to 100 chars is a better solution. So I will try to release this change in the next version.

Also Marek - the scene you sent appears to have over 600 materials - which is taking a long time on my system to cache in stage 1. I suggest trying to reduce the Surfaces list to something more manageable.

And how would you do that?face_off wrote:

By that?:
I did that and file size decreased to about 3,4 GB, but before and after I have only 137 Surfaces listed in Attribute Manager:
So where is the list of 600 Surfaces to be reduced, please?
