Hey guys,
I'm a bit confused on this hardware issue. Cost aside it seems 4 titan blacks win in gpu rendering but for viewports in maya and character animation is it better to have the quadro? My viewport select and rigging seem faster with the quadro? Should I keep my quadro? Is it just a maya glitch? Any advise appreciated. It's intended for professional work. I know this issue is discussed but it's so confusing when ur dealing with multi gpu I spent hours and sill can't decide please help!
This render goes from 9 mins with 4 titans to 11 minutes with the quadro.

I used to be one of those that insisted on having a quadro for maya and cad etc. It is optimized for that and was informed that it is much faster etc....
BUT
as the game" graphics cards have gotten so much better in ram and resolution I run just the titans on one machine I have... and honestly I do not notice the lag in Maya. I am not doing heavy viewpoint stuff though or large particle animations etc. So it will depend on the kind of work you do. I spend my time modeling in wireframe mode and then with octane testing as I go as it is fast enough etc.
I have another with 3 titans and a quadro 4K (That I do not turn on for rendering so it does not effect the the render time etc.)
So if you are on the fence... my take would be invest in the rendering cards as you get more bang for your buck and what you lose is not going to slow you down too much but what you gain will give you quicker feedback and final rendering.
Hope the opinion helps you decide. You know your work flow and if the quad will help on a regular basis.
