just bought Octane and trying to export a simple scene from Maya2011.
In my knowledgege octane can only understand different objects based on different shaders. So I applied one phone and 2 separate Lambert shader to spheres in maya, and use Export plugin for octane.
Its giving me facets on spheres, even though I applied mesh smooth to one sphere, and also checked smooth on plugin. It does that without smooth on aswell.

But it keeps the smooth for sphere in center, which has lambert1 shader.

Am I doing something wrong here? Or is it just inconsistent.
What other way can i apply new shader to an object, If all the objects have same shader while exporting from maya? Can i isolate objects based on meshes and not shaders?
Any help much appreciated, as this is really frustrating at the very start of Octane usage. Also I will always be using M.aya to Octane pipeline for my projects. That was one big reason I bought Octane.

aah my bad..I'm still learning Octane. Having a smooth option in material for objects is great!

Also one more similar tessellation/facet problem I'm getting while exporting a car model from Maya. Tried turning on 'smooth' on this but it didn't work.
Any other cool tip to fix this artifact?

Thanks bazuka :)

its still doing it. Tried every option from Maya Normals menu
Average normals
Set to Face
Conform
but its still giving facets not just to the body, but all over the mesh. I NEED to use maya-to-octane plugin, as my renders HAVE to use same cameras from maya. Help pls!

PS: I tried taking same mesh in Keyshot just to see if there was any problem with mesh, it renders fine there :(

Maybe you can cut a little piece with the error and upload it here.
So we can test it...

did you export it as triangulated object (not as quads)?
