Does anybody know how to render vertex maps in Octane for C4D without prebaking. The reason is that I want to import meshes from Real flow that have vertex maps for the particles in the mesh. This way we can simulate fluids with different colours mixing. Baking takes along time as the UVs need to be remapped, this can take forever on a complex map.

i have the same question now: is there a workaround for vertexmap-shading? i tried it with a layershader to create first a "B&W-Mask" on the fly but octane does not recognize the output of the layershader.
thanks in advance!

It would be great to know if its possible or there is another workaround.
Also need to look into baking the vertex maps into uvs...

Does anyone have a workaround on how to bake the Vertex Maps into UVs?
I tried to add layermasks with vertex maps on the standard C4D material and bake the RFL mesh into UVs but doesn't bake it at all(renders black!).

Currently working on some realflow sims and would be great to be able to render with Octane.

Aoktar, do you have plans to integrate vertex maps with octane? Vertex maps, color and mograph shader are essential for motion graphics work.

Kind Regards,

Yes, at least i'll try to check this stuff for seeing that is possible or not.

Thanks for the quick reply. Looking forward to see if it can be integrated.

Hi there any update on how to handle vertex maps to mix materials in octane for c4d? I would be very interested to mix the foam of the ocean, according to the waves formed by the hot4d-plugin.

it's out of focus until 2.0 comes

maybe, for 2.0 you could also have a look into proximal shader integration. that would be great.

Found a solution:

You can simply export a velocity map directly from RF!
How to export Velocity Map
How to export Velocity Map
Now after you've checked that (in 'F12' window) you can proceed with simulation of the fluid. I've got HY_Domain01_velocity_00####.exr sequence with cool colours :). They are applicable to the afterwards meshed model (Mesh's UV got to be set to 'Top Projection' as for RF 2014).

Feel free to bug me if you want to have RF 2014 to play with. I can only recommend it!
