The carpet was actually my first try with scatter on max. I scattered planes with opacity maps to get the effect, afterwards i've been trying with the geometry painter from Max 2011 and PFlow but i can't get better results than i get here altough I think i should be doing better than with scatter, i'll keep trying...
I also tryied to use advanced painter like recomended by Peter Guthrie http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/2009/0 ... al-part-1/
but it didn't start up on Max 2010. Anyone got tips about how to scatter objects on geometry with more options than the scatter on 3d Max?

First of all, really nice interior. It's coming out really good.
On the scatter subject, there is lot's of plugins out there to use, the ones I've tried are:
groundwiz is rather powerful, and you can easily paint the instances in your surfaces.
Forest Pro , also powerful with lot's of nifty options
Both of them have lite versions you can play with and use up to a limit of 2 different materials, but I've finally get so used to regular scatter and is really powerfull once you get the hang of it.

Great progress with the renders!
The second render is much smoother, but feels too dark. I really liked the light levels of the original render.
Composition-wise, consider offsetting the camera so as to move the red plant pot away from the very center of the image.
Wonderful work on the carpet!
