if you like what you just made, and also like to show it - don't hold back and post some images...

Ok, here you go. Primarily a skin test.

Small artifacts on the forehead but Rendered with HDR lighting 2.8 power to 2000 in 3:32 on GTX 660.

oO wow! :D

ps: to get rid of the artifacts you need to lower the rayepsilon value a tad - and pls note: the daz slider only shows 4 digits after the dot, but this specific value can be as low as 0.000001 - will replace it by a single text-edit box in the next update...

[edit]: i mean wow! this looks fantastic; great skin, and the facial hair looks extremely realistic - how did you do it?

Yep that did it.

Its all with the quality of the texture. To grab this level of detail you need 4K textures.

You can buy them in the Daz3d store. So this is what Octane and your plugin can do right out of the box with a standard high-res texture.

can you pls describe what you mean with "out of the box"? these are not just auto mats. i mean, i programmed them, so i should also know their limits?

Go to the Daz Store and buy the skin with a character morphs for m4 (in this case this product is called "Shaw" in the Daz Store).

Apply the skin to the model with morphs (M4 in this case).

Press Render in Octane Plugin. Correct rayepsilon when the developer tells you to.

You have no idea what you have unleashed the world do you?

Here is another one

well, i need some sleep now. will rest in piece for sure :)

i was actually in hope that the auto generated mats, which are by no means very complex or in particular tweaked for skin, would give some basic satisfying results for a broader range of stuff, and serve as a starting point for doing much better stuff. these images do indeed exceed these expectations a little bit ;) of course it is to thank octane for being such a great renderer, otherwise it would not be possible, whatever much or not much tweaking involved.

thanks for posting them - makes me really happy :D

Ahhh...The holy grai....automated mats...well I think we are a way off from that.

In the meantime I can get work done 20x times faster with better quality results because of this plug in.

Please remember that.

of course. was also never the intention, because knowledge, experience and artistry shall be still needed, not just boring algorithms ;)

Great job, ericg. Add back the eyelash and work with the node room and you should continue to produce some awesome work.
