Hi all,

Does anyone know how to get rid of these triangles? They always show up on all my models. It happens when two faces are tangent and when I remove one face,
those triangles show up. :( It really messes up some parts, such as glass, because of the transparency the triangles are visible.

All of my models are converted solidworks parts to step, then with moi3d i convert them to .obj. I tried different export settings already with moi3d. (

This is after and before:

Are the meshes triangulated?

Can you post your .obj file export settings in MoI, or maybe even the original file before export, but with the parts removed?

Like this? Moi3D always does a good job converting the .step to .obj, but the triangles never go away!

Also here are the .obj import settings.

Hi whersmy,

Have you tried checking scene scale? (http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=21372)
Also check the distance the object is from the origin. Something might be changing the scale during modification/export.

Cheers
Chris.

Well, so far no luck. :|

I changed the import settings to meters, but when exporting with moi3d the scale is set to mm`s.

I also tried exporting with weld vertices along edges checked, no improvement.
If i set the scale unit in moi3d to mm, then in Octane its the same right? If i set it to meters in Octane the weird circles show up.

Also tweaking with the ray_epsilon didn`t help, but I did saw the triangles going away, but then the mesh started showing artifacts.

If you post the STEP file, it gives us something to work with.
