Thanks so much, Paul.

I encountered the mapping widget live view "loss" with SR9 as well.

I also use Photoshop, so I should be able to open the EXR files (I believe).

Thanks again so much!

Best regards,
Nathan

Yes, it should open them. Make sure the other passes have actually rendered prior to saving as EXR in the plugin. If still not working, pls send me a sample EXR.

Thanks, Paul.

Still not working. Only a blank EXR, so nothing to send unless you want a 3DM file (which evidently isn't accepted as a PM?).

I'll work on it again tomorrow.

Best,
Nathan

Hi Nathan - did you test that each render pass had rendered in the Viewport? Did you try opening the EXR in djv_view? Also - might be worth trying with the latest 2.16 TEST release.

Hi Paul,

It works fine with djv_view.

It looks as though Photoshop CS6 won't support viewing the individual render passes of a layered EXR file without purchasing a plugin (as far as I can gather).

Thank you for your help--the Octane plugin for Rhino is just amazing!

I have amended the initial post in this thread with:

Known Issues
- Prior to rendering a Sun Study, Flythru Animation or Bongo Animation, you must select the Perspective Viewport in Rhino that the animation uses
- If both the Material and Octane tabs are docked to the same panel, changing from the Material tab to the Octane tab after editing an Octane material pin value may lock up Rhino. This will be rectified in the next release of Rhino.
- Octane Material thunbnails will only render correctly if you have OctaneRender set as the current Rhino renderer. This will be rectified in a future release of Rhino.

Hi Paul,

I'm still running tests using Bongo and Octane. I was attempting to animate waves, using a Rhino material, since I know OCtane materials can't be animated. I downloaded the file at the link below to test and a single frame will render in the Octane Window, and also in the Rhino Window when I manually click "render". However, upon trying to render out the animation, Rhino locks up if Octane is the render engine. Works fine with Rhino as the render engine however. This seems strange since I can render out a single frame in the Rhino window while Octane is selected as the render engine. It only seems to lock up when trying to render out the animation sequence. I'm on Rhino SR10 (I know SR9 had some issues). Is this an Octane issue, or do I need to hit up the folks in the Bongo Forum?

Hi Ryan

I loaded that scene and exported to Octane Standalone (via the Export Bongo Animation) menu item. Then rendered in Standalone, and it worked nicely (see below).
However, upon trying to render out the animation, Rhino locks up if Octane is the render engine.
I was able to get it to render via the Bongo animation render screen if I flipped the Perspective window into Rendered view first. But it was very slow - because Rhino takes about a minute per frame to calculate the displacement vertices, and Octane takes a long time to process the large amount of displaced vertices from this process

So in summary - go via Standalone for something like this.
