Ok, you can do that ;)
Great! Thanks Rob. I meant 'us' as in my office... We have a bunch of cards here, including 7 titan X's, which have not earned their keep just yet.
From the rumours out there, there seems to be a lot more potential in Pascal which is likely to emerge in the ensuing cards.

So would you not recommend the Titan Xs at all? I'm going to wait for the full release of the Pascal line, and then decide whether to get anything new or snag a few used Titan Xs. I always thought that the 12GB of memory would be a great advantage in some of the larger scenes.

The Titan X is epic. But I agree with your approach to wait if you can. Octane should function well on the new cards but even if it doesn't until Octane is optimised for the new architecture, Titan X's price should come down in the wake of the new cards which offer a lot for gamers at a great price.

So, with the cards being reviewed, lets speculate about their performance in Octane :D Do you think, we can see 200 points score in Octane Bench with the OCed version?

who knows..I hope so.. but it's way too earlly to talk, 'cos theoretical peak numbers (SP) sometimes are not possible to achive in real world =) it depends on a lot factors..but in the past those corelated nicelly =)

Hi Guys,

Like you I am very curious to see what sort of improvements might await us with Pascal in Octane. I was able to find CUDA benchmarks in Linux. Check out this link:

https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/artic ... -NAMD-803/

This was done in CUDA 7.5 without optimization for the new architecture. I'm sure many more benchmarks will come out in the coming days, but I had not seen anything else up until now. It will be most exciting when Octane can test the 1080 in CUDA 8, but hopefully this will allow for some informed speculation for now.

Ok, I don't like GTX 1080 but I'll upgrade to new GTX Titan Pascal with HBM2 in Q1 2017. ;)

I would be pleased if the 1080 compared favorably to the Titan Z. It would be excellent to see a new dual gpu in the Pascal generation as well.
