Thanks for the error message!
Maya 2016 ext2 is Maya 2016.5, right?
The plugin should not work with that, since the 2016.5 SDK is not yet used,
so its correct, that the mll is not copied, since the 2016.5 Path is not included in the setup.
Would be next thing to do, using SDK 2016.5.
Any error message with Maya 2016, 2015, 2014?
Should not be the same behaviour.
OctaneRender® for Maya® 3.03.1 - 8.0 Win [ALPHA]
more information: not using .5 here to note. It's showing up in the plugin list.
tried it with both 2014 and 2016(not .5) with the same results and no chance for a message. just crashes immediately. Checked the log and no messages in there either. I also watched the output window in case something shows up.
the only information I can grab that is probably not useful is in the mel echo " $ignoreUpdateCallback = true;" is the only thing that pops up after clicking the plugin.

Refreshed the downloads with the fixed version.
Did not include tbb.dll (for OpenVDB) in the setup, so mayas own was used, which made octane crash on startup.
Was just lucky on my dev machine to be using the correct dll.

Yay! Up & rendering! Hope I can soon dig in properly and give feedback

Nice. Dropping a reference of what seems to be the minimum to start a render and how to plug the camera. May be obvious to people familiar to Octane Standalone, but not all Maya users.
But before it's too late, I hope you didn't miss my suggestions to make the setup accessible through the familiar Render Settings window:
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=53709&start=80#p279066
Also, please do not overwrite 2.0 (unless you plan to make old scenes compatible
).
"Scale (1 unit = X meter)" is messing with the position of the camera (I guess the CameraTransformConverter isn't factoring it).
@k.a.schubert, I know this alpha is just the barebone and you probably have a better idea to quick start renderings. But before it's too late, I hope you didn't miss my suggestions to make the setup accessible through the familiar Render Settings window:

Thanks for the pic, made me realize I need an empty Geometry Group connected to the Render Target to see my scene, was wondering why I'm only seeing my Daylight Environment.ivankio wrote:Nice. Like, does nothing in the hypershade from 2.0 convert over...materials camera settings etc? will everything need to be manually rebuilt in 3.0?ivankio wrote: Also, please do not overwrite 2.0 (unless you plan to make old scenes compatible).
