I also experienced freezing issues when loading LiveDatabasematerials.
Hi, I am experimenting with SSS, and I have noticed that when using a mix node to mix a glossy material and a diffuse material with Scattering medium, the render doesn't restart to refresh after modifying a setting in the medium parameters, until you move the amount slider of the mixer. Weird !
French Blender user - CPU : intel Quad QX9650 at 3GHz - 8GB of RAM - Windows 7 Pro 64 bits. Display GPU : GeForce GTX 480 (2 Samsung 2443BW-1920x1600 monitors). External GPUs : two EVGA GTX 580 3GB in a Cubix GPU-Xpander Pro 2. NVidia Driver : 368.22.
This may be because the diffuse material doesn't have transmission enabled. In this case the medium node doesn't have effect (no rays can enter the object) and it will be ignored.ROUBAL wrote:Hi, I am experimenting with SSS, and I have noticed that when using a mix node to mix a glossy material and a diffuse material with Scattering medium, the render doesn't restart to refresh after modifying a setting in the medium parameters, until you move the amount slider of the mixer. Merid, this seems to be normal, happens to me too.merid888 wrote:hi abstrax i have a problem, when i change the resolution appear the image like the screen, maybe is a bug ? do this in any size
thank you, hope you can help me, i need close and restar the octanerender standalone again
When you have a high resolution and you move the image with the sliders right and bottom (not the camera but the image) and then go back to a smaller resolution the image stays where it last was.
Simple solution: There is a small icon bottom left under the viewport, two red circles with two white arrows, 'Center Image' or something like this.
It does exactly this, centers the image in the viewport!
Hope this helps, even if it seems to be in the wrong thread...

Thanks Roeland, I will check that point !This may be because the diffuse material doesn't have transmission enabled. In this case the medium node doesn't have effect (no rays can enter the object) and it will be ignored.

There is a bug that causes a crash when loading the material "Rock with Lichen" and possibly some other materials, it will be fixed in the next release.Refracty wrote:yes it crashed while loading a material. I couldn't reproduce the problem, but i will do more tests on the weekend.
