No problem here with your file either. Any particular thing I should try to generate the crash?

When I load the file, I launch the rendering in the window, it renders correctly, I can still rotate the scene without it crashing.

But as soon as I change a value in the shader editor (while rendering is in progress), the Octane server crashes. I get no error messages in terminal, just :
Read blend: "E:\Dessin\Projects\octaneProblem\test_mat.blend"
OctaneBlender Engine Free
Octane Ocio Management Update Start
Octane Ocio Management Update End. Time cost: 0.00 secs
Clear Octane Resource Cache System
OctaneBlender Engine Free
OctaneBlender Engine Create
Octane Ocio Management Update Start
Octane Ocio Management Update End. Time cost: 0.00 secs
Otherwise, I don't get any information or error messages about this problem, whether directly in Blender, on my system, or even on my antivirus.

The Octane server simply shuts down without any indication.

PS : I change the Height value (from 0.01 to 0.05) of the "Texture displacement" node so that it crashes on my side.

I don't really know if this concerns my problem but when I launch blender I have this in the terminal :

I would like to point out that the paths do not exist on my side, but this does not prevent the engine from functioning normally.

Otherwise I tested with a previous version of Octane Blender (4.4.3) and I have the same problem. So the problem does not come specifically from the latest version.

Thanks.

Small correction, I do have an error message in the Windows event viewer, always the same : (in French)
error.jpg
This appears when the Octane server crashes.

I've read that this OctaneServer.exe crash issue could be a driver issue.

I tested it with the latest 580.97 drivers (Game and Studio) and the older ones (576.88), and I got the same result: it crashes. :(

Well, I uninstalled everything from Octane/Otoy, deleted everything I could find in the registry related to Octane and I relaunched a clean installation of Blender (official version 4.5.1 from the Blender.org site) and the Octane server.

I used the add-on version (in beta testing), not the precompiled version.

The good news is that it's no longer crashing, at least in my initial tests. I hope it's not just a matter of luck and that the problem is resolved.

Well, the problem is temporarily resolved, while I continue testing and see if the problem returns.

In any case, I'll come back here if it persists. Thanks everyone for your help :D

Well, I had a little time to troubleshoot the problem by reinstalling the latest classic stable version (Blender + the server), and the issue remains.

However, the add-on version (in beta) has no problems.

I'm going to use the beta version, which works for me. But this is just to point out the problem concerns the standalone stable version.
