Could you post an example file and a screenshot how it appeared in previous versions and in 1.31? Thanks.
I tried in version 1.29, 1.28 and 1.27, all have the same problem... Does anybody use Alembic? How come nobody ever found this problem?

Please check the attached file. It contains both the Maya scene (Maya 2014) and the .abc file.
When imported in Octane (any recent version) you will see that the camera is wrong, and the materials are not exported correctly.

well that's a useful improvement then... :roll:
I really wonder about the wisdom of adding stuff that cant be used and will fail with no error handling.
Maybe put a small vram use note on the resolution panel and a note about using opengl over 8k?
Plenty of space there :geek:
16k x (8)/16k ought to fit in (3/4)/6GB cards perhaps you should add these to the presets while you are about it.

Btw, version 1.31 looses the material information of Alembic... Works fine in previous versions.
You need to add a render node, then connect the camera and scene geometry to it

Also about the materials... Roeland stated that most 3d apps exports alembic materials incorrectly right now

Thank you funk, this solves the camera problem! ;)
However the material is incorrectly exported in any previous version, and the node is completely missing in 1.31.
Any suggestion? I've attached the scene files in the post above, can anyone try it? :?

If I have an environment sphere emitting a HDRI map then emmission intensity gets normalized according to the sphere size. Since environmet sphere is usually really big emission strength gets really weak because of this normalization and my HDRI environmet is barely visible. Could you please turn this off or make it an option ( also available in plugins please ).

Please fix automatic length alembic node (now is too large) and distance between point is too large
