- Hotpixel/Firefly removal for the imager, to get rid of fireflies in real-time when tonemapping/rendering with a sensitivity slider. (it's a new slider in the camera tonemapper options)
Maybe you should try this…
OctaneRender® pre-Beta 2.3 v5 (win/lin/mac) [OBSOLETE]

you need at least 2000-3000 samples per pixel and then lower the firefly reduction slider slowly until you're happy with the result.lixai wrote:still a ton of fireflycan't use this
it works really good, just play with it, we did quite a few tests on different scenes. it's %99 perfect.
It's the last slider in the tonemapper node inputs. (hotpixel reduction/removal)
if you have less than 1000 samples/px you will 'blur' the image too much.
it's really only for rendering firefly free finals.

But their algorithm hasn't been released in this version either. It's a lot of work, and should hopefully be available in 2.3 final.

Yes, the upcoming pre-2.3 v6 will have the new algorithm.heydabop wrote:No MLT ever.Daniel79 wrote:No "mtl" in this version?

Although, the new firefly removal feature in this release already solves the firefly/hotpixels issue very well (given enough samples/px and finetuning it in real-time when tonemapping).
The only reason why we need the new algorithm now is hidden lightsources and efficient caustic rendering.

Here is a good surprise
