Hi,

I can't download that scene you sent me, rapidshare is always full for free users...
It should'nt matter too much though.

I think you've either got a PSU that is'nt delivering enough power for you GPU,
or you're GPU is damaged.

Have you ever experienced any issues with playing video games on max settings ?
Unfortunetely there is'nt much i can do further,
i suggest maybe contacting your hardware supplier and asking for a replacement card,
or seeing if a PSU upgrade solves the issues.

You should also check if you're video card is connected propperly to your PSU.
It should have 2x 6-pin power connectors on it's back, which *both* need to be connected to single connections to the PSU. (eg these can't be shared with harddrives etc...)

Hi,

i downloaded the file you sent me and it works fine here.
the dimensions are wrong. (it's huge, you might have to change the import obj preferences and translate from the correct dimension to octane 1 unit = 1 meter)
it has 2 materials and one of them import as specular/glass, i changed it to diffuse.

the ring artifacts on the walls are precision issues due to the fact that the classroom is kilometers large.

I tried this on my machine with a GTX260, PSU = thermaltake cable management 650 WATTS.
I'm sorry but i can't help you any more, i'm convinced it's either a power supply or hardware defect...

Guys, maybe we can use this scene to bechmark Octane in interior renderings? If you don't mind and upload it on deposit or anywhere else.

Hi,

i think it's best to wait a bit,
i don't think it makes much sense to do much benchmarks with the demo version,
when in 2 weeks we'll be releasing a version with MLT which will be vastly superior for interior renderings...

maybe wait a little bit,
i will be providing built in benchmarking tools in the next demo's and commercial beta versions.

if you want to do bench tests here in the forum with specific scenes, be my guest, but i don't think it makes much sense to host these on our main site pages for now...

of course not on general page. just some benchmarking, maybe a little topic on forum. many smart guys now sitting and waiting when they can render interiors in 15-30 minutes and what hardware do they need to buy for speed up.
if we'll start benchmarking now, in future, we can see difference between demo 1 and demo N.

I'm going to add a benchmarking system in the next versions, that will allow you to have a standard test for exterior and interior tests.

It seems the problem with my scene was the scale, it was converting cm to meters so the scene was way too big.

Now it's more stable

When i change the resolution the render view goes off screen, is there a way to center it back ?

i loaded it in, here's a shot.

you should change your units.
start up octane, then go to File -> Import Preferences.
change the units to centimeters,
then load in the OBJ.
