Karba, is it possible to make Substance procedural materials and also Allogorithmic's B2M material work with Octane? Octane Material will not allow me to plug in a substance currently. This would open up a ton more options for procedural materials.

Substance materails currently work with most shaders / renderers I am using so hoping it is a possibility. (MR, Iray, Vrya, Thea)

Love the new viewport and especially the focus picker!

You can only convert 3ds max materials to existing Octane standalone materials.
If the standalone hasn´t a specific shader like dirt, you can´t convert a dirt shader.
Should be simple to understand because the 3ds max plugin is based on the standalone...

I think think the substance materials work differently? So it would not be a matter of material conversion as they are not shaders. They are a procedural module that plug into existing shaders. A substance material can be wired into a Arch & Design, Vray, or Thea Material. Connection currently not possible into a Octane material. If this could be supported it would be huge.

I am waiting for instancing.

the textures are all in .tga diffuse and opacity opacity loaded ok, diffuse not

heres a capture of the standard map, and then converted to octane

the opacity was loaded fine octane image texture loaded and applied, the diffuse part wasnt processed correctly - the ivygrower uses some crazy material setup (you can download the free plugin from guruware anyway to test it..) and it linked the standard material to diffuse.. maybe it was the rgb multiply, it looks like it didnt recognize that particular map, so it left it like it was in standard, still much easier to convert, just had to create the octane image texture node and load that one texture in it

- still getting some issues with the material previews as you can see sometimes its all blacked out, maybe because I use old saves - will check it out, sometimes works ok sometimes blacks out

edit: yes its the rgb multiply that didnt convert, the converter expects a texture instead it got the max multiply material (which I never use) and when I changed it to standard texture it converted it fine - it should at least be noted , there are probably other cases where it could fail like that - it is a quick fix anyway after a quick analysis
I see. I have missed RGB Multiply. Convertor doesn't support it

Добрый день, у меня возникла следующая проблема при использовании плагина к 3d max. При работе, со временен происходит переполнение оперативной памяти. Даже маленькая сцена со временем начинает использовать большой объем оперативной памяти, приходится перезагружать MAX, или самостоятельно выкидывает.

thank you for the new release.

why Backburner is not supported?

For me is crucial to have enabled it because I have to start several animations. Now I got 2 four GTX580 systems.

It's crucial to have ies lights with target point too.

Please add a stereoscopic rig. Now I'using the xidmary plugin costraining two Octane cameras over it. But if you try to render from the xidmary cameras the system will hang, you have to reboot the computer.

I am trying to figure out why it doesn't work properly. I don't have access to xml file by myself. Probably I missed something in 3ds max sdk

Вылетает от недостатка оперативной памяти при работе с проектом. Те допустим открыл 3d max он использует 512 мб оперативной, создаешь объекты в сцене, крутишь их вертишь, потом оказывается что потребляет эта маленькая сцена уже целых 4 ГБ, в итоге при очередном обновлении окна октана, памяти просто не хватает. Она как бы не очищается и постоянно увеличивается объем, что в итоге приводит к недостатку ресурсов. ( у меня 8 гб оперативной памяти)
