I actually think the skin is one of the better ones produced. Perhaps a tiny bit too much bump. You notice it more on the close up off the hand. Too much bump tends to scatter light and and take that tiny bit of gloss that exits in the oils of the skin pigment away. you end up with a deadish dull plastic look if your bump is too high. Try reducing it a tad and see if it works on the close up... then test it again of a pulled back and see if you need to reintroduce it again for a far away shot.

Its all in the tweaking : > )

Keep up the nice work

thank you, that what I was struggle with , the bump are already on the last value possible , and sometimes they show up so heavy other time not, especially on the hands and in shadows, the full body have the same value but with closer up it just jump up without reason , the next step in this situation would be just remove them .. but I think I am going to use new normal maps in place of bump maps as they do not work that well for me .. I used normal maps for the floor and it was working so much better that bump maps ..

I think we are here not for awards and ovations so it is nice sometimes to get comments and suggestions from different point of view .. so thank you

Yep I think normals do work better. They some times are very strong and you have to dial them back though.

I have been doing this for many years and I find that I am always learning from everybody else too.

And realistic skin and eyes are one of the hardest things to get correct because there are so many different varieties and yet we are expert as humans at telling when they are not real.

Onward and upwards aye

I agree on that, I am doing it for 14 years but Octane is new for me and I try to find my ways as complete newbie with the materials and responses to the light , what was ok in other software is complete different story in Octane ,and as I mentioned at the beginning I just reloaded old scenes to see how it works and learn better , but as you know yourself if you spend to long doing something you slowly lose the reality and what for you seems just fine is not good enough for others and vice verse .. constructive comments help always to shake you from the moment and make you try again ..

Too true. I will spend hours on something that I think is spot on... Show my wife... and she immediately will see that something looks weird and I have blinded myself to it.

I appreciate honesty... when I'm ready for it...

I feel you on that

P.S I have it always when I watch movie and see bad CGI effect it always spoil the movie for me ..thinking they should be done better and in my time losing the the movie atmosphere and it is done .. it is pain sometimes
so I expect others do that to our work and it is still not the end of the world..

...........to be continued
