Hello,
I have a strange effect here :
I don't understand why. It concern only the reflection.
If i use a diffuse map with a photo, there is no distortion ...
Any ideas ?!
Thx
Niuq.

What happens, when you turn smoothing off?
Maybe a normal issue...

maybe a distorted u/v map on the bumper? apply a structured map (checker or whatsoever) to the bumper and see, if it looks right...niuq.cam wrote:Hello,

Booth bumpers are inverted. If i invert the normales from TEST_PARE_CHOC.obj that with the sphere, the bumper normals are wrong...

Ouch...
Thank you Face for reply so quickly.
I check that.
Thx t_3

But that wasn´t the problem, the render looks the same...
Have checked it with Modo and it seems, that the reflection is correct.
The mesh has a unique form

though the reflection looks odd. what bugs me is, that it is not possible to apply a simple texture mapping to that object. an octane checker procedural works, but also look odd (twisted). trying to map a photo of my cat onto it
just shows a grey surface, whatever scale i use... this is not normal (beside the normals), isn't it?

I never seen this kind of reflection on a reel car... very special car.face wrote:But that wasn´t the problem, the render looks the same...

I can map a picture and there is not distortion... the problem is only with a reflection.t_3 wrote:though the reflection looks odd. what bugs me is, that it is not possible to apply a simple texture mapping to that object. an octane checker procedural works, but also look odd (twisted). trying to map a photo of my cat onto itjust shows a grey surface, whatever scale i use... this is not normal (beside the normals), isn't it?
That is a normal reflection on a reflective surface that is curved inwards, if you look for it you may find this effect in real life. It happens if the camera is close to the focal point of the mirror. If you move the camera closer or farther away, or change the curvature of the mesh, it will be gone.niuq.cam wrote:Hello,

It is like the effect you have often on the fenders / wings when the surface bends outwards.
Many car designers sketch it as an elipse because of the 3D bend it is seen ofte as an elliptical mirror effect.
