octane not showing up as a choice to render with

I placed the plugins in the path appropriate for my max version according to the directions
But Octane render is not available under the render tab in render settings.

Is there a way I can check to see if it is loaded in any way?

Did you make sure to put the Octane3dsmax.dlr in the correct directory. This needs to be in the 3dsmax plugin directory, just this file. All other files go into the root directory.

even changed the name of the directory to Plugins instead of plugins in case that the issue

Try to download the package again and reinstall them.

Did you copy the plugins folder containing the octane3dsmax.dlr file into the 3dsmax plugin directory or just the file inside.

Just the file. I'll send screen captures later to see if I messed up
There are other plugins in that folder and Max sees them when I use the tools (hammer icon)
