It would be nice if you could coose an area of the image to concentrate the calculation there. You could also variate the area in real time during rendering...

It is a problem when you have a specular material only in one area of the image. PMC doesn't get to calculate darker zones and pathtracing lasts a lot to get the caustics. For examle: a fountain

don't know what do you think about this

Regards

A region render and/or a render brush would be very welcome. As you said darker areas generally need more time, it's a huge waste of resources sometimes.

Hi,

A render brush would be nice, we may see what we can do in the future.

The bright noise in the posted image looks like there is a problem with the geometry. Does the noise appear with smoothing turned off?

And a general remark: if there is a problem with nose, it is much easier to see what is going on if hotpixel removal is turned off (set hotpixel_removal to 1.0).

Hi

The bright noise is normal since I have several lights in the scene arround the fountain, and as it is a bumped-water-map I think it is not a problem.
Yes, there are two faces that seem to have wrong normals in the fountain, I hadn't time enough to correct geometry :)
