Before, I only made the experience that the Octane application thread was hanging.
I am taking into account that my PSU has fail funtions but I am not sure. I will investigate more...
Thanks.
i'd say that (at least under win 7 x64) a total crash is 99.9% hardware related. other things that may cause such a behaviour are almost ever driver related (maybe check with another nvidia driver version?), because of their low-level access to the system. even real bad application crashes are normally "only" freezes.

you may also check the condensers on the motherboard, because - depending on their quality - the might wear off and die some time (yet accelerated by constant high temperatures and high loads)... what then could cause critical voltage ripples under load.
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply

Hey mates, you really need to sort out the problem of rendering animations and gets stops, I'm trying even the version 2.51 with the same problem, we just lost several days of rendering because we go to sleep and when we wake up we see that the render stoped 1 hour after we went to be, so the whole night process is lost, this is really a pain in the ass, hope you publish a new version soon with this fix, thanks.

Thanks for the tips.
So I have figuered out that the problems happen mostly with PMC.
Could that point to a driver error issue?
Don't you think that it could be a PSU error?
I will install a different NVIDIA driver tomorrow.

Thanks a lot for the update. Where can I see the cuda link for this release? I checked preferences and it says 0 driver cuda installed, maybe that's the reason why I can't see anything in the preview/viewport? I tried to at least click the live db samples/materials and they look great but still i can't see anything in the preview/viewport.

Normalmapping doesn't work if the texture is piped through a texture input pin into the material macro. The texture must be inside the macro, for normalmapping to work:

You don't need a separate CUDA download, only the nvidia driver.
