Mad scientist aside :) , that "sampling brush" feature looks really cool & useful. I hope the concept is not patented...

What's wrong with using multiple render targer nodes?

i used a lot render region, and it's more easier to use than render target, you only have to select the region on your render window ! that's all you have to do ...

and it allow to render fastly different scene parts without using and tuning lenshift and camera, and we can combine these renders on final result without issues.
region rendering was a very handy tool for making some gui with moving parts for example , or to patch or combine without rerender all ... etc... !

imo, if you can find it on allmost all render engine, i think because it's really a usefull tool, in many way ... and to have both tools in Octane would be very powerfull :)
but i understand that there are a lot of others priorities ! but keep render region in mind, please.
:D

The benefits should be evident to anyone who has ever worked in a 3D project.

matej: Bryce had a similar render brush back in the 90's... crap I'm old :(

I'd love to have Render region as well. It's a wonderfull tool for materials setup in real context and many other things listed by others.
