I don't know about Maya, but I have such a plugin in 3ds Max (http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... =21&t=7572, my husband wrote it), it uses this "-q" flag, but Octane do not starts minimized. And it is so frustrating when these windows pops up permanently although the "-q" flag is set by plugin...vipvip wrote: I'm very interested with this: is it possible to use this 'quiet' mode (-> 'q' parameter ) with command line when exporting an animation from the 3D app exporter ( ie a scene with maya, with moving or deforming objects ).
Because i don't know how to use this ( possible to mix exporter with command line, ? )...

thanks for your answer, i don't use 3dsmax but own licences of lightwave 10.1, maya 6.0 and blender ( the cheaper oneSaramary wrote:I don't know about Maya, but I have such a plugin in 3ds Max (http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... =21&t=7572, my husband wrote it), it uses this "-q" flag, but Octane do not starts minimized. The plugin you use is customised and it's a great idea but perhaps it would be possible to integrate this option directly in the preferences of octane ( like a " run in quiet mode " option ) ...
The official plugin for 3ds Max uses this option too for animation. But option itself not works properly, plugin tries to use it...vipvip wrote:The plugin you use is customised and it's a great idea but perhaps it would be possible to integrate this option directly in the preferences of octane ( like a " run in quiet mode " option ) ...

vipvip, do you know if the Maya2Octane exporter works with older versions of Maya (like. 6.0 or 7.0) for animation?
Excellent vipvip, so no need for a cost intensive Maya upgrade

vipvip wrote:yes it works very well on maya complete 6.0 but only with the maya 2009 version ( some bugs with newer ).Refracty wrote:vipvip, do you know if the Maya2Octane exporter works with older versions of Maya (like. 6.0 or 7.0) for animation?
I have experienced a strange bug today. I was navigating (zooming, orbiting) and suddenly got stuck in a 8bit video game looking style. No subsampling was activated. Very funny but strange. Did anybody made the same experience? Is this some kind of insider cheat

not quite a bug report yet 'cause I haven't tested it throughly, but while rendering a video using a batch command (maxoctaner) with nothing else on and aero off, after a few frames (2 or 3) either gpu blocks when it's about to finish, actually you can see that one of them has reach all its samples and the other hasn't but it won't go any further and in preferences it shows just one so it means that the other one has crashed, but no crash report and octane only closes by killing the process, and to get back the other gpu I need to do a full shutdown (reset just stalls). It's happend 3 times, then I've thought of doing a clean driver install (I've been swapping my 3 gpu's around in the 2 slots of that PC and it could have messed something) and testing it in 248, so far it has rendered 40 frames no problem, so when it's all done I'll try again with 249 to see if it's a 249 related bug or a driver issue.
Also I've thought of using 248 cause I've just rendered a couple thousand frames of that same scene in that built with 2 gpus (either 2x570 or 570+470) and no problem at all (once I turned off aero and use max with software display drivers).
So it's just a heads up, once I finish this small batch I'll try back with 249

Has any of the refractive software guys look at my previous post? I think it's an important bug.
