I've tried this 2.49 whith animation and it works perfectly: octane becomes quite an animation killer now ( obj. motionblur when ? ;) ): it's very fast, even for importing scene and voxelising !! Congratulations ( again ) !!

I asked you before, is there a possibility, for next versions, to configure a background-task computing mode ( which permit to let calculate animations with octane, while working on others apps -> without the octane windows coming on foreground task for each new frame calculation, breaking the workflow): actually, with 2 GTX 470, it's possible to play with main/second screen calculation card, but there is still the problem of the octane-window which 'breaks' the workflow...
It would be SO GREAT !! :)

Last thing, no problem with the firewall on my workstation...

ps: is there possibility to delete a post on forum, i've already sent this one on another post, but it was a mistake, sorry...

To everyone who has a loss of card memory.

I'm not sure about Linux or OSX, but on windows you have the following

Having aero on can loose you around 150mb of cards memory.

Having other programs open but hidden in the background.(IE with windows, dropped to the task bar) can loose you anywhere between 50mb to 100mb for each program open but running in the background.I guess that the graphics drivers on all the systems seems to need to keep the window frames in graphics memory , just in case you click on one of them to open it up.That is why when you switch to each open program it pops up instantly.Try shutting down any programs you don't need to keep running and switch your displays to basic versions with no fancy features to recover your graphics cards memory.

Anyways, that's my theory :mrgreen:

no firewall problems here either. amazing new DL modes :D thank you octane team!

But +1 to the "sluggish" response to camera movement/material picking, as in 2.48, i didn't have problems with any releases before that.

Windows 7 x64, quad core and GTX470 1.2GB.

I have done another test with the scrambled image in the render view port.I have tried rotating the scene and both of the images in the render viewport also rotate, almost in sync with each other,but one slightly offset from the other.It almost looks like there are 2 cameras in the scene and both are showing their respective views in the single viewport with one slightly offset from the other.Really weird !!!

"-q" flag of command line not works fully - Octane window not starts minimized. With this flag it has no splash but starts visible, not minimized.

Hi guys, I think you really have something broken in your latests version, at least from version 2.48b (I don't know if 2.47 is also affected), the problem is with how is handle the materials with blackbody emisions, check:

"-s" flag of command line works not properly too. If it is given "-s 64000", Octane starts with "Max. samples" 16000, not 64000.

And please, fix that "-q" flag (about minimizing), it's very important in animation processing - it is no way to work with computer when Octane windows every time pops up, pops up, pops up...:o

I get the same crashes than in previous version.

Cube is rendered wrong, to try open object/mesh as sphere crashes octane. There is not improvement for me.
Octane team said to find the problem, but there is no further support. Therefore i wait again and i am not able to work on ubuntu 11.04 with octane. No way.

I'm very interested with this: is it possible to use this 'quiet' mode (-> 'q' parameter ) with command line when exporting an animation from the 3D app exporter ( ie a scene with maya, with moving or deforming objects ).
Because i don't know how to use this ( possible to mix exporter with command line, ? )...
