Try to launch Octane over the command line. What are the errors you get?

Marcus
Done. There is no error message in the command line. The cube is wrong rendered. I attached the blender file and the produced obj-file for testing. In xp it works, in ubuntu not yet;-)

Greatings, Stephan.
The exported obj is correct, there are no errors in the geometry, but you should export the obj as triangles, not as quads...

EDIT:
I have the obj also loaded into Octane and it looks ok...

I think I've found you a couple more problems.

Check out the images attached.

I decided it was high time to rake out my old ATI XT2600HD - 256MB graphics card and put it in the case as my display card. Then run the GTX460 1GB card Headless.

Everything works perfectly except.

1) I'm only seeing 896Mb of memory available rather than 1GB that i expected.
2) The Trench scene and others seem to throw a fit when you try to render them at high res.

Other than that i can do other work fluidly whilst Octane runs in the background.

I installed the cuda 4.0 new and the graphic driver 275.21 but the problem is still there: the cube is not the correct cube in octane and a sphere crashes octane with "ERROR: Program executed illegal instruction.. terminating".

How can we compare the systems? There has to be a difference. I stuck here.

Greatings, Stephan.

Exist there a way to get debug information of octane? the error message is not tell a lot. Can we run octane in debug mode or trace mode? For me there is no other possibility to find out the error.
Where is saved the gui information of octane? I cannot find a config file like .octane or .refractivesoftware. How can i debug this problem now?

You can't at the moment and if there is no error printed in the console then no error occured. Could you please post a screen shot of what you get?

Thanks,
Marcus

To 1): I don't know where the memory is going, but you never get the full memory that should be available. I guess either CUDA or something else has some overhead, but I really don't know.

To 2): At which resolutions do you get this problem?

Cheers,
Marcus

bug 1:
drag liveDB mat into view and drop material and the view updates = fine
drag and drop on material header in inspector , ball comes up with new mat, click on obj node and see material has not been applied or updated in the view = sad

bug 2:
once a mat is dragged in the current mesh view of the inspector shows a liveDB icon but there is no mat properties listed under it.
I also note that a drag and drop retains the original name say 'rubber' in the mesh tree but has for instance 'mix material' as a name if you then use the material picker in the view to bring up the new properties.

bug3:
if you drag and drop on the mesh tree headers the new mat is not applied and neither does the ball come up. probably wouldnt want the ball anyway though.
I note too that a drag and drop here causes the tree to expand if it was collapsed. I am not sure that is a good idea.

Marcus

I've ran some tests. As you can see from the various images. The picture seems to keep splitting (a bit like an amoeba ;) ) at increases in resolution

Using the camera Pre sets it's as follows:

A single image is visible up to the 2464 x 1648 camera Pre set
A dual image is visible up to the 3520 x 2344 camera Pre set

After that it is a 3 way split all the way up to the 4032 x 3024 camera pre set.

I then tried it on the maximum power of 2 setting of 8192 x 4096

and got this....... It's an 8 way horizontal split picture !!

Hope this helps.
