In xp there is no problem. Therefore is has to be a problem with linux or the specific installation or with octane for ubuntu. Can somebody help me to find out the problem in ubuntu? I can give you all protocols you need.
Thank you in advanced,
Stephan.

alpha channel leave a trace of transparency under all the image so when you add an image in post prod. it become visible (barely but visible) under the render image.
example rendered with 248c, PMC kernel.
cheers,
andrea
p.s.
when I run octane after a reboot it works fine, if I try to use it again without a reboot it works at 50% and shows as 'failed' the gpu in the bottom right of the render panel.

Hi Marcus .
about alpha channel , i was wrong in one think . it works in pathtracing , but in pmc its there and it goes not away
i tested a scene with a white cube and alpha channel .in photoshop i put a black plane in the backround .
when i move the black plane from left to right i can see the slight transparency in the white cube
rendered with pmc 4000 samples
cheers
Rico

Regarding the alpha issues: We are working on a solution to make the alpha channel more robust for the PMC kernel. The transparency should vanish over time, but it seems that it doesn't for some reason we have to investigate a bit more.
Regarding the GPU failure: What is the graphics card you are using? Maybe try to disable Aero and then try it again.

Try to launch Octane over the command line. What are the errors you get?grenzfrequence wrote:I now installed the newest nvidia-graphic-driver 275.xx. The CUDA-Toolset 4.0 is installed as well. It is shown in the preferences of octane render. But i get exact the same problem. The cube is wrong again and it is not possible to render a sphere, because octane is crashing then.
Other ideas?
Greatings, Stephan.

Done. There is no error message in the command line. The cube is wrong rendered. I attached the blender file and the produced obj-file for testing. In xp it works, in ubuntu not yet;-)Try to launch Octane over the command line. What are the errors you get?

Have now tested the Linux version.
Octane closes now, this issue is also gone, but the pmc issue is still here and a new one is come...
I get a white result if i render with pmc. The solution which is most working, is to set the maxsamples to 32 and then back to 7.
If i render with pmc, i become after a while a "Program executed illegal instruction.. terminating" message and Octane stopps...

The exported obj is correct, there are no errors in the geometry, but you should export the obj as triangles, not as quads...grenzfrequence wrote:Done. There is no error message in the command line.
