I try with a new scene and it works fine with PMC first but after switching to HDR it is like before.
The first frames looks good and the the scene starting overexposing again. :(

Cheers,mib

The main thing I had to do to get it to work was to angle the opposite side of the prism downwards so the refracted light was aimed at the ground. Otherwise you can't see it at all unless you put a wall there.

Hmm, i found a scene that is working without issues, old 1.23 ocs file.
No idea why this is working.

@face, could you test?

Cheers, mib.

Proupin,

Too cool indeed! Would you have objection to sharing your set-up or OBJ and material file for this prism work it is really cool and I'm a big fan of the Pink Floyd album cover... you captured it perfectly.

When I open a 2.46 project, nothing shows. When I export a new project from C4D, nothing shows.
Installed the latest GPU driver and the CUDA 4 toolkit. Restarted computer, same problem. To weak gfx card?

my "alien" tests are not quite sucessful, they look better after being rebuilt in this version, ye they are not there... for some reason. The "moon" which is a "huge" 50m wide sphere about 500 m away from the subject gave lots of light before with lower power, now it needs a lot.
Well, meanwhile I remembered a little statue I first modeled when I met sculptris, and I thought it would do for a nice dispersion test. Just my "fat thinker" with a specular full reflection with red transmision IOR 1.45 and 0,025 dispersion, a base plane with a diffuse white material, and a "home made" projector for a focused light.
Rendered with the same values in PT and PMC, PMC is clearly better and converges at lower samples, I let it cook for 12000 'cause I wasn't looking at it, surely it got done much earlier. PT at 16000 sheds to many hotpixels yet.
For the final touch I lowered the hotpixel in the PMC to 0.14 and rised a little the fstop value.
I love the caustics in the fat man's arse.... ;)
