Hi,
I tested Octane with a RAM - Disk. But this didn't speed up the importing and meshing signifitiantly.
How about SSD drives. Are they boosting up the speed? Usually a RAM disk and an SSD should work the same, isn't it?
Cheers

It's maybe a little bit older, but it should give you a guide...

Thanks face.
i have 96 GB ssd Kingstone and i can tell you that i will NEVER use other stuff for system disk drive. For me, HDD is dead
I found that even navigating with one card is faster in Octane.
I made a count, i measure start of my comp + start archicad + start photoshop + turn off PS + turn off archicad + turn off my comp
comparing this 6 everyday actions, SSD VS HDD, on my pc i will get 10 hours more in a year ! I will have 10 hours to spent them on what ever i need. Einsten wrote, SPEED is most important unit in universe so invest in speed !
So, i would RECOMMENDED SSD to every user, laptop ot desktop it doesnt matter, benefits are great cos here you get more FREE time !

Second this, even with my older OCZ hardrive, I never buy a better hardware part.
The new drives write/read up to 500 Mb/s.
Cheers, mib

All right friends of the fast life, I have ordered an OCZ Agility 3 today. It is allmost as fast as an OCZ Vertex 3 but significiantly cheaper.
I hope that it will speed up the hole systems

@jaberwocky: as i understand there is no possibility to combine an ssd raid with a conventional hdd in the same system, as of yet. raid hdd + ssd works just fine. raid ssd on its own as well. but that wouldn't be a practical set up i think.
plus i believe there's a 750 MB/s speed limit. but don't quote me on that as i actually don't know much about that topic.
