There isn't at the moment. Path tracing is not good at rendering caustics of small light sources. For that we need a different render kernel, which is planned for beta 2.5.ura wrote:can somebody answer my question about a caustic? (the question a little later)

Change to cuda toolkit 3.0 but no changes, renders fine, if i try to open an image or floatimage > freeze.
During writing i change libfreeimage3 3.12 back to 3.10 maybe thats it, further testing and report.

version 2.45 runs much much smoother and I had no crashes so far, but it seems like the pathtracing is not working any more ... when switching to pt it shows up a light flash and than the image is getting darker and darker.
And there is a strange issue ... when I change the resolution to 1920 x 1080 the picture renders only black ... when I use the blender Addon and set it to the same resolution and hit render, it opens up octane and renders the picture as it should be ...

the problem for me was that i forgott to desable the sky-dome in my host application so the light can't arrive to the scene.

sound s like you are out of vram. this only happens to me when using 70-80% vram and does not depend on the new octane version.LetoAtrell wrote:version 2.45 runs much much smoother and I had no crashes so far, but it seems like the pathtracing is not working any more ... when switching to pt it shows up a light flash and than the image is getting darker and darker.

Sure it does, because with the previous versions pt worked fine and I just tested the new one with 1024x512 resolution!dave62 wrote:sound s like you are out of vram. this only happens to me when using 70-80% vram and does not depend on the new octane version.LetoAtrell wrote:version 2.45 runs much much smoother and I had no crashes so far, but it seems like the pathtracing is not working any more ... when switching to pt it shows up a light flash and than the image is getting darker and darker.
