Tnx Face.
What add-on to use, for 2010?
[EDIT] Yeah, 2010 works.
Beta 2.2 RC1: SoftImage XSI plugin testing thread
I don´t know how i can get instances work correctly...SreckoM wrote:What are limitations of this plugin?
I exported one building with lots of instances inside instances (windows, doors instance in floor instance) and when it is imported in to Octane instances are scattered all of the scene.

I think you like thisadrencg wrote:...but how do you get the exported strands to match what I see in XSI render? The strands are way thicker and fatter than in XSI. They're also upside-down.

We're almost there with total conversion, right? When hitting the render button on your plugin, almost anything in XSI scene will convert to Octane...except maybe hair.face wrote:In the next version

Simple instances aren´t a problem,
but i don´t know how I should get an instance in instance in instance to work...
The problem is, a simple instance point to a model which have a mesh.
All is ok.
An instance from that instance point to an instance which have no mesh.
Pervert is, you have a model, which is the parent of a mesh and a parent of a new model with a mesh.
You make then an instance from the top model.
This instance you put in a new model which is also parent of an other mesh...
You see, it´s not realy simple.
Maybe a octree or similar would help...

Hey Face,
Time for some requests again
... Not anything spectacular though. First of all.
Would it be possible to enable so that you can override the focaldepth? Im struggling, when animating long focus throws, and Im stuck at 100 being the max.
Second. The project path seems to follow along from the last project, instead of being saved down in the XSI scene. If I for example work on project A, and then fire up a scene from project B, and want to render it, the project path is changed to the last one from project A. Its a little frustrating sometimes. I dunno but sometimes this seems to make a glitch with the Aperture/Focal length aswell. Because often when I swap between the projects, the first frame I render is out of focus. My solution is to change the native unit size from whatever the current mesh size is, and then render once, and then change back to the original value. Its not so troublesome as the project path changes though, since I always do some control test renders before rendering out a animation.

I have set the max to 1000...
Have changed that the projectpath from the ini-file is only used, if the projectpath is empty.
Also only on new scenes.
The swapping with the unit size is also fixed.
It was an old issue, that I´ve found self
I think i can upload a new version the next days...
