Hi,

I have just tried 2.44 and to my disappointment the import of my model is not working really good.

I have a scene that that I can import in 2.43 without problems. It can be imported to Luxology Modo 501 as well. It is done in Microstation V8i SS3 Beta.

In 2.44 all materials become Specular and the textures do not appear. In 2.43 all the textures where mapped and worked, only thing I had to do was to adjust them.

Another important thing, the tree of materials in the model collapse when you change a material from Specular to Glossy, it would be nice if this tree newer collapses unless I do so manually. Now I have to open it again for every material I change and then there is not really a point to having a tree.

Hey,

Can you send us the exported scene from microstation ?
Either zip it up and attach it here or mail it to us at support at refractivesoftware dot com...

Since I have sent you guys a test case, I am wondering, any news on this?

Hi Martin.

I thought I replied to you. Must have forgotten it. I'm sorry for that. In a nutshell: I couldn't reproduce the problem. But we fixed a problem with texture imports of MTL files exported by DAZ and it might solve your problem, too.

The test scene you gave to us, contained absolute paths for the textures. When you open the OBJ by adding it as a new mesh node to your scene, are your textures imported correctly?

Cheers,
Marcus

With 2.43 the textures are working correctly. In 2.44 the materials are specular and no textures are specified. I tried it today with another scene, and the problem remains.

Try importing this file, and see if not the materials become specular. I want the result as in 2.43, glossy with textures. You should see a difference between 2.43 and 2.44 at least. Lets hope that the MTL file was the problem ;)

Ok, tried it and it worked in Octane beta 2.44. This is what I did:

- I unpacked your RAR files into a directory.
- Then created a folder c:\Users\Martin\Desktop\octaneimport and copied all texture files there. (The MTL file requests the texture files from there, for example:

Code: Select all

newmtl MicrostationV8iSS2.dgn_Default_01_01_60c6_vis
    Ns 5.000000
    Kd 1.000000 1.000000 1.000000
    Ks 1.000000 1.000000 1.000000
    map_Kd C:\Users\Martin\Desktop\octaneimport\WoodFine0035_1_S.jpg
- Then I launched Octane and imported the mesh, by creating a new mesh node and selecting your OBJ files.
- This is what you get after enabling object smoothing (which was not turned on in the OBJ files):

Maybe your OBJ import preferences are not the default ones? These were the OBJ import preferences I used:

Other than that I have no idea what else might go wrong here.

Cheers,
Marcus
