The metal shader effect is achieved by controlling the specular and reflection amount using a image map. Heres a break down of the textures used:

The cockpit and canopy have their own texures. The canopy has one texture that controls the transparency, specularity and another one for the color. Better visible on this close up:

The glass scratches are added in post. The hanging connector is also added in post. The image where the plane has a checkered texture is a Wip. The checkered texture is used during UV-mapping to make sure that all parts of the plane have the same texture resolution and that there are no distortions (ie all squares have the same size)
