Hi, I've been attempting to learn Octane X standalone on my Mac. Recently I've been exporting some renders and have compared the color of the render to the viewport. I have noticed that I just couldn't get the same color response from the render as I had done with the internal octane viewport.

Today I worked out that an HDR setting is enabled by default, at least on Mac and standalone. I'm not sure, but unless the Mac is a MacBook Pro or attached to and XDR display the color output can be inconsistent. I'm not sure this setting should be enabled by default.

Hi,

I'm with you, first thing to do in OctaneX Standalone is to go to settings/Color management, and disable the HDR Viewport option:

I think it was introduced several years ago for supporting retina display, but now with ACES/OCIO support it is obsolete.

The good news is that you only need to do it once.

Ah thanks for confirming. As I'm very much learning I wanted to make sure I understood the situation correctly. I actually really like using standalone for setting things up and working with vectron. It helps me focus more than being in Blender etc. However for someone who last used 3D software in the age of Bryce, I have a massive hill to climb!! Despite this, I have used ArtMatic Voyager alot and it uses distance fields, hence why vectron and booleans feels quite natural.

Thanks,
Michael
