Hi all,
Thanks for all the feedback and issues yet reported.
It was a good idea to post only one initial release for win x64 (the largest userbase amongst experienced users on the forum).
We are currently fixing the reported issues with this build, and we aim for another update (2.41) to be released tomorrow, with the reported issues in this thread fixed,
that gives users another day to test and report on more bugs, as 2.4x will have to last a while (so we can continue work on the major changes coming).
Once the next build tomorrow does not have any remaining major issues, we will go ahead and start releasing binaries for all the different platforms and cuda 3.0 versions aswell.

i would say great improvements with this release...
alpha and shadows thru opacity were what i was waiting for..
(and thanks for the viewport lock button..
)
however, do we still get fireflies (or caustics) with this..?
here are two renderings done with ver 2.3 and 2.4...
i hope this is fixed in the future...(sorry to bring this up- maybe this version was not meant to fix this..?) i know these caustics are due to the waterbody (and i did checked the hotpixel remover)
otherwise- all is good
thanks!

Yes, but due to a bug, they don't work. Sorry for that. We will post an updated version as soon as possible, which also works for mesh emitters.Zay wrote:Was Alpha mapped materials supposed to work with this release when using light emitters?

Hi Marcus,
It's not happen all the time.. It's hard to reproduce it in identical conditions. I remember, that I've tried to drag node from object do material (glass architectural from LiveDB) during rendering process..
cheers

Hi Refractive,
although I can't test the new beta (I'm running Linux), I'd like to know if you have fixed the followings, or if it will be fixed shortly:
- mtl import of materials/textures that have spaces in their names
- paths and filenames with spaces passed through commmand line for obj, ocs and png parameters
Thanks,
Lionel

Sorry, we haven't changed any thing here. So, please still keep file names "space free". We will have a look the whole integration/import/export thing later. There is lots more to do in that area.yoyoz wrote:Hi Refractive,

One final thing from me.
Not critical but are you updating the PDF manual to reflect the changes in this release?
Thanks for the great work.

I really love the new GUI and the new features, besides those small bugs, I just have two questions/requests, would it be possible (if people find it useful) when the render panel is lock to be able to pan the frame around and zoom (ctrl+mouse)? I think that the lock is one of the most useful new features for dummies like me that without knowing move the view when it was about to finish, but yet, I would like to be able to move and zoom the picture without risking "reseting" the zoom. The other request is about alpha maps (arf, I love alpha maps, I really love them) could we have a flag for the command line to turn it on/off?
Thanks for all, for the hardwork and for pleasing the zombies (we might look dumb, but we can eat your brains, with quianti of course
