Hi all,
One of the stable releases have this feature: "Real-time" option in Viewport rendering. Is there a good explanation for this?
Thanks!

For now, just ignore it and keep it disabled.
That's what it does, by the way.
Real Time Rendering - Uses more GPU memory to provide a more interactive experience.
Note that the following features do not work when this button is active:
Multi-GPU Rendering
Network Rendering
Noise Pass
Denoised AOVs
Cryptomatte AOVs
Upsampler
Adaptive Sampling
Export Deep Image
Display Color Management
That's what it does, by the way.

This worked fine on 28.8 but stopped working on 28.9

It works fine here.
Just be sure to just have one GPU enable, with non NVLink active.

Seems to work in 28.9 for me. With it enabled, refreshing in the viewport is snappier. However when I enable/disable it while being in Preview mode, the word "Initializing" is displayed in the viewport and nothing ever happens. I have to get out of Preview mode and back in again manually.
Are there any disadvantages in having in ON all the time?

Well, all of this will not work (and more memory is needed!):
Multi-GPU Rendering
Network Rendering
Noise Pass
Denoised AOVs
Cryptomatte AOVs
Upsampler
Adaptive Sampling
Export Deep Image
Display Color Management
For me is definitely a no-go for now!

But these only concern the preview, right? So adaptive sampling in the final rendering would still work? If so, that would be fine. I don't need any of those in the preview (while I still am on free-tier). But I see that it's a no-go for Studio users with a strong GPU setup.

After reading all these posts I gave the feature a re-try and now it works perfectly. The Viewport experience is doubling up for me. whoop thx.
