Everything was functioning normally with Octane 2023.1-R6.

There's also the "plugins in the app directory vs the preferences directory" thing. That has bitten me more than once. Maxon's attempt to force standardization of that several versions back seems to have failed.wangdanyang1120 wrote: Thank you for the reminder. I have already deleted the extra components before that.

Note sure if it has been mentioned, but if you set the area light to a disc shape, the direction of illumination flips to negatize z, instead of positive z.
yes, Disk primitive is only supported by new Analytic light:SilentPartnersStudio wrote:Note sure if it has been mentioned, but if you set the area light to a disc shape, the direction of illumination flips to negatize z, instead of positive z.

It's interesting, because it is in the documentation, and it works fine if I flip the scale negative on the z axis.bepeg4d wrote:yes, Disk primitive is only supported by new Analytic light:SilentPartnersStudio wrote:Note sure if it has been mentioned, but if you set the area light to a disc shape, the direction of illumination flips to negatize z, instead of positive z.

ciao,

So seems supported, but broken...
Hi,
sorry, that image was made when only default light mode was available.
Octane lights are differently optimized for AI Lights, depending on the type:
- Default = only Rectangle
- Use primitives = Rectangle, Sphere
- Analytic = Rectangle, Sphere, Disk, Tube
You can use the Default or Primitive modes with Disk Area Light, but it is like using a Disk object with Diffuse Emitter material.
Note that in Default and Primitive mode, you can see the segments of the disk. ciao,
Beppe

And when I do this, the direction is reversed.
both the same: disc rotated +180:
