As I switch to the HDR backdrop and switch the ground plane to a diffuse material and check the shadow catcher checkbox. The entire ground plane is showing its "shadow"? once I apply the materials to the character... before applying materials its all fine and the ground plane acts like it should, be invisible except the shadows... How to remedy that?

Hi. I am not clear on what you are trying to do here. Are you able to provide a scene which demonstrates the problem with a sphere instead of a figure please?

Thanks

ShadowCatcherError_NoMats.png[/attachment]Im trying to have my character in the scene with HDR lighting and i wanted to use the ground as a shadow catcher. Otherwise it looks kinda silly without shadows. So the entire ground plane is visible as a shaadow, whereas it should be invisible. And it works just fine right up to a moment i apply all the materials so my model...

Here's the scene, i noticed it starts displaying incorrectly after i apply the armor mats, there are diffuse materials that are set to light emitters and all the rest are glossy... but whatever it is it shouldnt make the shadow catcher primitive visible in the render window...

Of course when I say it started displaying I meant in the render window... :)

Thanks. This scene is missing many many texture files, so I cannot load it. It is much easier if you can just give me a very simple scene with a sphere instead of a figure which demonstrates the problem,

I am not sure there is a lot of help I can provide without a simple sample scene which demonstrates the problem. However, is it possible the SSS on the figures skin is causing the issue? Or perhaps the figure is touching or going through the ground plane?

Hmm no because when just the figure is there with loaded maps, with SSS and all, but the armor doesn't have maps loaded yet it's ok then. When I load the mats to the armor thats when the ground plane becomes visible. Armor has 2 types of mats glossy, and diffuse emissive mats.

Again, I am guessing here, but perhaps the emissive materials are causing an issue?
