how to set up a simple Custom AOV for a material?

struggling to get this working in AC - what am i doing wrong?

in the Settings tab i enable 'Output AOV Group' then in Input 1 i select 'Render Output AOV' and in its own input i select 'Custom AOV 2'

in the Material settings i enable 'Custom AOV 2'

in the Rendering tab there is only a 'Output AOV 1' available and no 'Custom AOV 2'

the output is all black

Hi - I couldn't actually get this work in Octane Standalone, but I think once you work it out there, it should transfer to the AC plugin. Check the section Custom AOV's "https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=78621" - and check the custom-aovs.orbx sample. Let me know if you find the solution please!

i did it in MODO in the end

will take another look over the next few days as am back in AC

i'm not sure but i think the Render AOV's are missing from the list?

the Output AOV's i believe are for use with the Compositor, or at least that's how it is in MODO?

i have to say they must have tried /really/ hard to get the naming as confusing as it is

Are you saying the render AOV's missing from the ArchiCAD plugin or Modo?

sorry i meant to say that Custom AOVs are missing in the Render AOVs... in Archicad

in MODO you can choose Custom AOVs in both Render AOVs and Output AOVs

in AC, i only see Custom AOVs available in the Output AOVs section

Thanks - I will make sure these are in the 2023.1 version of the plugin (which contains a new AOV system).
