Hallo SamPage,

I normally use Rhino 4, I´m just exploring Rhino 5. But in this case it doesn´t seem to make a difference. I tried both and the result was the same. And yes, I use octane 2.3 v5.

I attach the 3.dm as it comes from Rhino 5 plus the obj and mtl, hope you can find a solution.

Thanks a lot!

@ 8Eggar8

Thanks for your hint. I installed the obj exporter but it didn´t make any difference....

Hi Sam,

from reading other threads I know, that you´re working on the rhino plug in just for fun. That makes your work much more appreciable of course. Thanks a lot!

Did you have the chance to look at the posted issues so far?

Kind regards

Sorry for the delay in responding. Unfortunately I am not having good luck reproducing what you are seeing. The one funny thing that I do see is that the surface has two mapping channels. If you remove both of these in Rhino that reapply your mapping, does that help?

Hi Sam,
thanks for your answer!

Does that mean, you have the right picture in octane? I mean the numbers in the right orientation?

Or you´re just unable to open the file?

I tried everything I could think of. I made a new plane without any maps and for scientific reasons flipped Normals and UV in every possible direction. I then applied a decal in rhino and rendered it. Now, for a change, the image was upside down.

It would be easy of course to take the image and rotate it in gimp, but sometimes it is flipped, sometimes rotated. And that´s a bit uncomfortable when you have more than just one image...

Kind regards

Ah ha. Your mapping is set to surface and you are importing into Octane Z up, so the texture is getting rotated.

The exporter (available in Board index » Licensed Customer Forums » Plugin Discussion/Support » Rhinoceros 3D) should help resolve this issue as it will remap to Y up, if you are using the exporter and it is still coming in Z up, please let me know.

You can also change your mapping type from Surface to Planar to resolve this as well. I have attached your file as it comes into Rhino for me (last image). Your original clock face is on the left, I copied it and changed the mapping from Surface to Planar on the face on the right. The second image is the result from Octane using the exporter, the first is from just an OBJ export with Z up in Octane.

Yippee,

that seems to work! Thanks a lot and a dozen hugs from Germany!

For some reason I thought, that your plug in was integrated in octane - stupid me! But you have to admit, that it is somewhat hidden in that forum. Wouldn´t it be better to place it somewhere in the download area?

Thanks again
