Hi There,
Is it possible to use a m1 pro macbook pro as a main render machine (Using Octane X PR13, R25.117) with a PC - using 2021.1.3 as a render slave (3080ti)
Which versions of Octane speak to one another between Mac and PC?
My network rendering is currently active on port 48000 on the mac and the pc is visible in network preferences its just sayting - invalid version (11.00.3 [0])
Is there anything i can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

No sorry, it is not possible to mix Metal and CUDA render-nodes for network rendering yet, but we are almost there.
OctaneX is still based on 2020.1.5 SDK, with some addictions, while PC version is at 2021.1.3 SDK.
We need to wait for the next upcoming 2022.1 SDK, to have an OctaneX version based on the same SDK as CUDA, and to be able to experiment Net render in a mixed environment, with both CUDA and Metal Render-Nodes.
Stay tuned...
ciao,
Beppe

Is this possible yet with 2022?
No, sorry again, not yet.
But now that we finally have the same SDK with 2022.1, for both Windows and macOS Apple Silicon M1/M2, the core devs are working on network rendering and headless rendering options (it will be possible to add a Mac Pro with AMD GPU, or PC with Nvidia GPU as if it were an eGPU - connected to an M1/M2 mac or iPad Pro M1/M2), for upcoming 2023.1 SDK.

Hi guys,
multi platform Network Rendering is now possible, but you need to install c4doctane 2024.1-Alpha3 Metal version on M1/M2/M3 under macOS Sonoma:
viewtopic.php?f=85&t=83085
And the corresponding Render-Node version for Windows or Linux that you can find here:
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=83054
Have a look at this speed test here:

Hi bepeg4d,
I've done all of those steps and this is a miracle! It works perfectly.
Thank you all!
By the way, a side question: My Windows machine is set to sleep after half an hour of idle time. However, it still goes to sleep while the GPU is being used. Does anyone know how I can prevent Windows from sleeping while the GPU is being used?"

Checking in on this after the apple event a few days ago. Do you think it will be possible to buy an ipad and use it as render node on my network? I use PC with Cinema 4D as my 3d app.
Thank you!
Thank you!
