We have it. Try to press ALT during operation
C4D Octane Nodes are too limited compared to other DCCs

Indeed i didn't notice the hex pattern, after fiddling with the blending exponent i could actually see it, i think i got mistaken with the "show tile structure" triangles.jobigoud wrote:Chaos node is based on the same two papers the repo you pointed to is referencing. It's already using an hexagonal tiling of the plane.ShivaMist wrote: - Chaos Node HexTile mode https://github.com/mmikk/hextile-demo

Other than this you can add nodes to current group, just change the boundary of it to cover another node. That will include it. But I can add the similar methods as in video tooaoktar wrote:About DROP NODES to LINK

Ok that's great! Alt also works for removing the connection but it deletes the node, which is maybe not the expected behavior in my opinion.aoktar wrote:About DROP NODES to LINK

All in all that's super but how can regular people know about this shortcuts or ways of using the node editor without example or hints?
I'm daily driving C4D Octane for a few years now, and i'm keeping up with the new updates and i didn't know about it. I've seen the "Gesture" parameters in the settings but it didn't make any sense to me what it was doing.
Would it be possible to display the available shortcuts in a corner, like in subtance painter where when you press a modifier key you will have the available shortcuts ? So when a new shortcut is added you just need to update the available shortcuts display, that would reduce the friction for new and old users.
I'm using the comment node like that, but having more ways to organize our nodes will always be welcome!Other than this you can add nodes to current group, just change the boundary of it to cover another node. That will include it. But I can add the similar methods as in video too
If someone come from another renderer/dcc and finds the same QoL features they will come back and the new experience will be less frustrating.
One thing i realise is not really ergonomic is you have to click 3 times to rename your comment node :
- first : click on the invisible drag box or the side of the comment node
- second : click on the arrow to deploy the title box
- third : change the title
Since it's possible to write values in materials/nodes, would it be possible for the Title and Comment to be directly accessible in the node editor in the same way?
I'll appreciate all requests. All takes time but some are on my list actually, rest will give me direction on the road. In manual, I can see the ALT modifier trick.
Not sure what do you know else!
You can drop any input pin to open node list? Or LMB on middle of connection lines to do same?
Or drop multiple images to create nodes?
I'm having another idea to multiple connection via one click for images on PBR materials via AI, and more...

I don't understand where you are going whith this part of the message.. Are you being sarcastic ?Not sure what do you know else!

Anyway i've made my suggestions, if you find them helpful i'm glad to help.
True, my mistake then.In manual, I can see the ALT modifier trick.
NO, just thinking that some features are unknown and assumed node editor underestimated on features because of posts here. And I see people is doing requests by giving references but we actually have these or similar features for a long time.ShivaMist wrote:I don't understand where you are going whith this part of the message.. I see what you mean and i understand it can be frustrating to have people (like me) asking for features that are already here.NO, just thinking that some features are unknown and assumed node editor underestimated on features because of posts here. I think you need to see further than that, a suggestion that is already implemented can be either a lack of knowledge, a lack of research or a lack of proper referencing to find the information that's needed.
In my case if i do a suggestion it's always motivated by "with my insight i can provide solutions that could help/make things easier for other people", not pointing to the missing stuff saying "x is bad do y instead".
But most importantly if a feature/software/ui is not comprehensible from the first glance it's a User Experience issue, not a dev issue; and it needs to be improved with the community of artist daily driving c4doctane.
The Scott Bensons's guides are really great to bridge over the octane documentation and to bring information/workflows to the new and old users (that might have overlooked some features) in a more readable format.
Thanks you, but I'm an old 3D generalist too. I believe our plugin is one of most user-friendly done by my experiences. Of course I don't claim that I could do everything or best, but it's my best. It's very complicated and hard to manage to listen/watch/answer and develop. And being one man giving different advantages and disadvantages.
In short, that's why I'm still here to listen/answer all of you. Although, I'm also 3D guy but I might be missed new trends on competitors. All posts are useful from this aspect also. Keep posting what you wish! Sometimes I feel like that's my baby, and my reaction may be like a child. But at end I can understand the point and give the rights. Thanks!
