I don't have time for deep investigation but don't link a VDB to moving object. Just link emitter point to structure and leave VDB static

what if the object is emitting smoke? how else would you do it, like a plane crashing?

It's a rabbit hole, with motion blur the vdb's stop to align with the geometry too. Let me know if you got my message I dm'd you.
