Hello Aoktar! What an amazing effort working on faster viewport texture caching on file opening!

It truly works and whenever I'm in the process of material caching I can move around freely in the viewport and actually work on stuff! I've noticed there is a grey mesh, then white mesh and then loaded material, probably some hack to make it work? :)

There is a small issue with it's tendency to show black material either on scene load or on Remove duplicate material. The Remove duplicate material one happens a lot.

These are extremely simple Glossy materials with only Diffuse channel loaded.

Glad to hear that works on you and good know the issue is not just on me! I see the issues sometimes, I'll fix these when I can catch the reasons. But it's not known until now. Thanks for great feedback!

We have that a lot in our projects.
you can fix it by going into the material to the texture and press reload
but its still annoying.

Yeah you can definitely "wake" it up to show properly but it's recurring issue which pops up randomly and one doesn't want that burden when handling many assets and scenes.
We'll keep using the old texture loading system and will switch to the new one once it's ready because the performance boost is paramount.

i agree with you, its annoying.
we've been having this issue of black textures after opening a project for more than a year now, but we've learned to live with it.

Would be nice though to have it fixed, because sometimes you need to model according to a texture and going in everytime to reload is tedious.

Black texture issue is related with latest addon, how it can be one year old? Also be more motivative for the developers. They works for us by pushing the limits.

Next time it occurs i'll protocol it in detail.
I've asked my office-collueages again for reassurance and they also told me that we've been experiencing this blackening on and off for a year or so.

One said he thinks it happens more often with big textures, the other one swears its happening more with PNGs than JPGs.

Wel as i said, we will take it to protocol.

How about it, i just opened a random project of ours and found 3 examples plus 1 extra which isnt blacking out the texture in the viewport but is fuzzying it.

Note: We have "Use Octane for OPENGL previews" turned off by default, because we find it annoingly slow

Show me you settings/other page. There is a new option to calculate material/viewport previews/textures in background and also caching. This is avoiding the lags of viewport textures. I cannot think a relationship with having different image formats. Maybe related to a specific version. Because there was several trials to do this functionality in some versions. As I said above, I'm aware of some glitch and I'll try to fix as said. You should understand that nothing is simple in plugin development. There are complex structures to be stabilized/improved. Takes time and needs feedback.
