Universal material is tricky, since it depends on which channels/pins you are using.
If Albedo is not Black, you should set the Transmission to Diffuse.

So I tried using a Diffuse material instead of a universal material, with the same result:

I have set the albedo to black (also tried greyscale 0) and the transmission to white (and tried transmission 1).
Here is the node setup:

Hi,
the Diffuse material is not the best for skin/sss, try with a Specular material, using the Albedo texture/Coloro Correction node in Transmission, or use the Universal material.

Try to set the Density to 100, in the Medium node.

With the upcoming 2022.1 SDK, a new Standard Surface Material is going to arrive, and it will be possible to create Skin materials without the Medium node, with a much more simple setup:
