Hi all,
recently my new PC only crashes when I run renders on C4d with Octane and standard, knowing that I generally have more crashes on Octane renders than standard.
Crashes are either blue screens with the message: "*Clock watchdog timeout*", or a direct restart.

The rate of crashes is very fluctuating, example on an Octane rendering of 750 frames on c4d in 1920 x 1080 with a rendering time of 5 sec./frame: a crash after 82 frames, then 216, then 265, etc.

It seems to me that the PC "puts itself in safety", like crash related to overheating or other.

Here is my configuration: Omen 30L Desktop with i9 3.5 Ghz and RTX 3090 with Nvidia Studio 511.65 driver. Cinema 4D R18 with Octane Render 2020.2.5

Apart from the times when I launch renderings, I had no crashes, knowing that the PC is constantly running at the moment for an online backup.
So, in order to know if it is a software or hardware problem, I am looking for software to test the PC in the same conditions as renderings on c4d
Do you have any software names for that?
Have you ever encountered similar problems?
For information i was used to the Mac for twenty years, so little resourceful on the PC.

Thank you in advance for your answers,

Hi,
sorry to hear it is not solved, we have talked last time about this here:
viewtopic.php?f=30&t=79420&hilit=watchdog

As said, OctaneRender is not the culprit, but the trigger of the issue.

Have you tried to contact the motherboard manufacturer?
Maybe a bios update can fix it

ciao,
Beppe

One thing which always helped here is to open the nvidia driver and under help, enable debug mode. This put the gpu down to the official nvidia sanctioned clockspeeds and disabled the manufacturer small overclocks. was surprisingly effective.

What OS? I’d recommend nvidia studio drivers 472.84
