Hi,
since yesterday, my PC only crashes when I launch renders with Octane
The first crashes were blue screens with the message: "Clock watchdog timeout"
Then I did an update to the Nvidia driver.
After that, I launched a one-hour rendering with Octane without crash,
but after that, the PC started crashing again pretty much every 10 minutes.

In order to validate the origin of the crashes, I then let the PC run tonight with backups in progress and there has been no crash since.

Here is my configuration: Omen 30L Desktop with i9 3.5 Ghz and RTX 3090 with Nvidia Studio 511.65 driver. Cinema 4D R18 with Octane Render 2020.2.5

Do you see a solution to this problem please?
Thank you in advance for your answers,

good day to all :-)

Wow, it is a very long time that I don't see someone reporting about the "watchdog" error :o
Here is the latest discussion about it, I can remember:

Hi,
the "watchdog" error should be related to motherboard, Windows and Nvidia driver versions, not specifically to OctaneRender.
Since OctaneRender uses the Nvidia driver, the error is triggered, but it should happen with other applications too

My suggestions might not help, but I'll try...

-When you install the Nvidia drivers are you sure to do a clean install with the latest Studio drivers?
-Do you have the same error if you use a different GPU?
-Do you run any antivirus or malware software?
-Are you sure there is no mis-match between c4d octane version and octane stand-alone?
-What version of c4d are you using?
-Any pending Windows updates for your OS?
-Are you sure you have removed all the non-relevant c4d octane versions from your plugin folder?
-This is a longshot, but what size/rating Power Supply do you have and are there other PCIe cards installed?
-Did you recently upgrade other components...are you sure RAM, cards, cables are snugly seated?
-Is your BIOS current?

Hi all,
I give you a feedback on this problem of crashes with the blue screen "Clock Watchdog Timeout"
First, here is my configuration:
- An Omen 30L Desktop with i9 3.5 Ghz and RTX 3090 with Nvidia Studio 511.65 driver.
- Cinema 4D R18 with Octane Render 2020.2.5
- Work files are on an external 18 To hard drive "G-Raid" connected via USB-C
- The files are back-up from the 18 To hard drive "G-Raid" to a 24 To hard drive connected via USB-C

The crash rate was very frequent last week and only when rendering with Octane Render, approximately one crash every 100 frames.
Then I did a test by copying the work files to the internal disk of the PC, and there I was able to launch about 3 scenes of 750 images without any crashes.
I thought I had found the origin of the crashes, but still there was a new crash with the "Clock Watchdog Timeout" blue screen during a render.
It seems much less frequent but crashes can still happen.
So I think it's related to the external drive, but it's still unclear.

Have you ever encountered this type of problem?

Hi and thank you for your message T-BoneStudio.
I think I have found the solution since then. This involves making adjustments on the "Omen Desktop" application by configuring the "Performance Control" tab on "Performance" and "Turbo" (see screenshot). Can you try this and say if it works for you please?

Thanks to you
