I feel like a super noob now. On my Windows PC this works like a charm! Thanks a lot.

However, initially I tried this on my iMac at work (with an external GPU) and it wouldn't let me set keyframes for any of these parameters. Weird.

Is that a bug in Octane for Cinema 4D on a Mac? I've realised some crazy UI issues, when I have the Live Viewer running and I'm moving lights in the viewport etc.
Try without viewport rendering and say me what you find! Viewport rendering mode is avoiding to give keys by mouse.

Hi Aoktar,

I tried without viewport rendering and it worked. However, afterwards it even worked, while viewport rendering was activated. Overall, Cinema 4D seems a little less stable, when using Octane with an eGPU, which is weird, because on my PC at home the combination runs rather solid. Either way, thanks for your help!

I'm having issues with rendering an animated material in my scene. The material itself seems to be imported and working fine in the project--the animation works correctly in the Live Viewer and as I scroll through the timeline I can see the material's image sequence changing as expected. BUT when I finally export my scene, the animated material gets stuck on the first frame and doesn't animate at all. Any ideas?

Windows 10 (64 bit)
C4D R18
Octane for Cinema 4D v4.02.1
GPU:
1 x NVIDIA GTX 1080 Driver: 419.17
3 x NVIDIA GTX 1080Ti (Network Render)

Please list any additional specs or files I can provide to help solve.

I'm exporting the scene to a local drive on my main system using Octane as the Renderer. Thanks for the quick reply--I hope that answers your question?

by export, do you mean rendering to the picture viewer, or are you exporting something to open in standalone?

I add the project to the C4D Render Queue (using the Octane Renderer) and export an image sequence (16bit PNG), locally, that I will rebuild and animate in After Effects. The PNGs produced in the export are all completely as expected, except for the animation that should be playing in the one material which is frozen on frame one of its image sequence.

Gotcha.
Seems to work ok on my machine.
Have a look at the sample scenes that Ahmet has prepared. https://render.otoy.com/plugindownloads ... scenes.rar
in the manual scenes folder, there is a scene called imagesequence If you follow this setup, you should be able to get it to work.
If not, please post your scene.

SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM:

The breakthrough tip came from a contributor on the Greyscalegorilla Octane Channel in Slack. (Very worthwhile resource for those who aren't currently on it!)

Silly oversight on my part: Under the Octane Renderer>MAIN tab in Render Settings, I didn't have the "Check Materials Every Frame" box checked. As soon as I toggled that on, the render outputs reflected what I've been seeing in the Live Viewer. Thanks to everyone who helped contribute.

What would be really handy is soe sort of script/settings you could just import into premiere...
