it should do that but play with intensity of gradient colors.divasoft wrote:Hi Ahmet, i tryed to get smooth extinction gradient in vdb generator.
Octane well understand cinema noise and i see smooth noise gradients, but when i try to use cinema ramp octane get just half of container of generator without any gradient.
Octane does not understand cinema gradient shader in vdb generator texture slot? Is any chance to get smooth ramp volume?

Yes, of course I tried changing colors. Have you tried it yourself? It seems to me that no.aoktar wrote:it should do that but play with intensity of gradient colors.divasoft wrote:Hi Ahmet, i tryed to get smooth extinction gradient in vdb generator.

As you can see, (please take a look at attached image - first column) at any value of the first color of the gradient, we will not get a smooth fading of the density.
And if i invert points of gradient, octane will interpret density another way (why?). When we reverse the colors of ramp, we expect the effect as if we rotated the volume box 180 degrees on the Y axis.
And even so, all the same, we will not get a smooth fading of the density from 100% to 0%.
Right-bottom image shows a smooth gradient of density, but this is not the correct result, because there should be 100% density in the left corner of the volume box.
Maybe you could fix this issue?
I don't use c4d, but in standalone, the "cast shadows" pin is directly on the toon point light and toon directional light.Kalua wrote:PS.: Lino: how do you disable shadows in toon lights? Can't seem to find the parameter.
The c4d manual doesnt show it on the toon light, so aoktar may need to add it, if it's not already there.

I see "cast shadows" on the light tag > light settings tab, so maybe you can add this to the toon light to try it?

I don't think "cast shadow" is on C4D side. Page 8, last post at this topic I asked for it as I couldn't find it.funk wrote:I don't use c4d, but in standalone, the "cast shadows" pin is directly on the toon point light and toon directional light.Kalua wrote:PS.: Lino: how do you disable shadows in toon lights? Hi Aoktar!aoktar wrote:Well sorry, forgot to change it. Will fix it by a quick rebuild.eyeonestudio wrote:Version name seems to be wrong.![]()
And is the below function included?
-SDF from Mesh <--> Vectron connection
-Scatter - Poisson disk sampling (maybe don't need it in c4d!)
-User instance IDs and random texture for volume, SDF and Vectron instances (random textures working good)
>>is it possible to use instance-id? (volume-object does not support render-instance)
First is not included. For Second, it may work natively. But render-instances are not supported for volumes, also no need to implement it for vdb mode.
There seems to be somme ather issues with correct display of the version. Even though I instlaled wverything and it works, the message seems way wrong.
close the live viewer, open it again and bamm, correct version.FullHPetroL wrote:aoktar wrote:eyeonestudio wrote:Version name seems to be wrong.![]()

Hey AoktarAaronWestwood wrote:Congrats on the release! Few notes:
- The texture/scattering bug I mentioned in the previous thread still persists. The project I attached there should highlight this on both the 2020 and 2021 versions (ive attached it here again, it's set on a problematic frame but moving the camera will fix this).
- All daylight rigs are dialed WAY too warm (and red) in comparison to the 2020 versions and stay warm despite adjustments, the 2020 versions are accurate here but in 2021 we cant really use them like this. Find reference image and project attached. Project is just using the Octane default rig but the 3 other rigs also display this color mismatch (although you cant tint them, they are still too warm).
Looking forward to have these sorted before professional use

I saw your reply with the option to go back to legacy daylight instead of D65, totally missed this update note so really appreciate that option still being in there, the more options the better!
But I just wondered if there's any update on this texture bug ive mentioned a few times now? On a project currently which is a large animation where the scattered textures are flickering like crazy as the camera is moving by them (trees). Opening in 2020 and its perfect there, so its just in 2021. The project I attached previously shows this bug so wondered if you've looked at this or identified the issue?
Much appreciated as always

AW
PS. That post with the project is on Page 1 of this thread,

it's not a texture bug. More like an issue on transmission and looks like a core issue. That should be reported to Otoy team.

Both are shared to all kernel types, so I haven't added it to overwrite part. It's like a global option in a scene. It's a design choice by me.slepy8 wrote:There is no switch in Render Settings
