Is it possible that Octane v0.7 and v0.8 render differently? In the first attached image, the upper half is rendered with v0.8, while the lower half is V0.7. Both are rendered with path tracing turned on.

Also in v0.8, I can see no difference between using path tracing and using direct lighting:

What am I doing wrong/different here?

EDIT: just noticed you're using it wrong.

you don't add and click on nodes like pathtracing/directlighting to switch to them.
you change it by changing the node used in the preview macro.

eg, doubleclick on the node named 'macro' on the left, then change the node there by swapping it.

first image:
top image is directlighting
2nd image is path tracing

the 2nd image:
both images are directlighting

For next demo, maybe is to consider putting subsampling default to 4x4 (or whatever the last icon on the right is) to make it navigate faster?

tnx

Hi,

We're nearly finished with the final linux port,
once that chapter is closed, we will make a mac port.
It should be available during the next few weeks.

Ah...so that is why I didn't notice any difference between the two either and thought the previous beta was actually giving better results as well.
