I want to use color vertex attribute to control the scatter surface density .
When i use texture to the culling map,it work. But when I changed to color vertex attribute, nothing happen.

Hi yanchuangjie,
Try adding Octane Geometry proprerties.
Also using the rgb texture node like in the screenshot.

Thanks for Reply.
It means that vertex colors cannot be used to control the scatter surface density?
I want to use vertex colors to control the distribution of plants,it is inconvenient to use textures.
Is there a node like C4D?

Hi,
I am not sure I understand your workflow.
In any case Octane for C4D scatter surface is not a part of Octane SDK.
Can you try my attached .max file?

At the moment it's not possible to use vertex attributes from the main surface geometry to control density, culling, etc. It only supports images and procedural textures that can be baked without any other information. The "geometric" textures won't work. It runs on the CPU and doesn't have access to the normal texturing pipeline.

but why aren't the objects distributed on the surface? they appear far from the object
